Proper research and planning are essential when hiring an aircraft in Africa to
ensure safety and efficiency in line with your travel needs. Major consideration
include:

• Type of aircraft and capacity– range, type, power, extended fuel tanks, the support offered, aircraft maintenance age and condition as well as necessary onboard safety equipment.
• Operator certification and reputation – regulation compliance and ICAO certification as well as operator’s safety records.
• Pilot and crew experience – pilots are licensed and experienced in specific flying regions and conditions and have the specific crew language skills.
• Rental agreement – confirm aircraft is adequately insured for both aircraft and passengers and understand the terms of the coverage including liability in case of accidents, cancellations and / or delays. Does it have an ELT status report for sufficient hours
• Flight routes and permissions – many African countries require flight plan approvals and clearances for flying over c remote or restricted regions.
• Cost and payment terms – ensure a clear breakdown of all costs, including aircraft rental, fuel, landing and handling fees and any miscellaneous costs for crew and services. Understand the payment terms regarding deposits and cancellation policies.
• Weather conditions and contingency plans – ensure the operator has a contingency plan such as alternative airports in case of bad weather, especially during the rainy season.
• Access to remote locations – availability of fuel is a crucial consideration as some regions have limited fuel infrastructure
• Customer service and support is essential before, during and after the flights especially in case of flight changes, emergencies and / or unexpected delays.
